Driving for miles and seeing graveyard after graveyard made me wonder where the living were. Intricately carved marble, stone; ornate metalwork and unique sculptures were concentrated in graveyard after graveyard. I finally asked the driver to pull over so I could take a few photos. I wonder if the influence of the Russian orthodox gravestones had anything to do with them, or if this is also uniquely Kazakh or muslim.
