Chembulok From the Kazakhstan Hotel

Just a few miles outside of the city stand the magnificent mountains of Chembulok. They make a pleasant backdrop to what is more or less a drab Soviet-era city of cookie-cutter highrises. However, greenery does exist, and parks are abundant throughout Almaty. These mountains tend to remain empty as most Kazakhs do not enjoy much hiking or camping.
